Obituary For Shirley Dodds

A Time To Be Born: Mrs. Shirley Dodds was born October 27, 1942 to the late John and Margaret Hinton. She was born in Meriwether County. A Time To Learn: She received her education in the Coweta County School System. She graduated from Central High School. A Time To Labor: Shirley worked at Playtex for over 30 years. Upon retiring, she worked for Poplar Road Elementary School until her health failed her. A Time To Unite With The Lord: At an early age, Shirley joined Rocky Mount Bethel Baptist Church. She was an active member of both the Usher Board and the Food Committee. A Time To Love: On January 29, 1963, she was united in marriage to William Allen Dodds, Jr. To this union four children were born; Berdennia Hill, Dawn (Ray) Dodds and Jennifer (Jan) Dodds. Shirley gained two step-children, Caroline (Penny) and Darlene Dunlap. A Time To Go To God: Shirley transitioned to be with the Lord on May 30, 2015. Shirley was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Dodds and William and Addie Dodds (father and mother-in-law); three brothers, Adolph (Mary) Amey, Horace (Dobbie) Hinton and Tommy (Clara) Hinton. Her treasured memories are shared by three brothers, Rawlins (Dennie) Hinton and James (Wanda) Hinton, Josh Hinton; one brother-in-law, James (Barbara) Dodds; one sister-in-law, Helen Hinton; four grandchildren, Brooke Hill, Jonathan Partridge, Christopher Gatson and Megan Stegall; two step grandchildren, Tony (Tiffany) Moss and Crissy Dunlap; one great granddaughter, Caylin King; four step great grandchildren, Brylan and Brison Moss, Jamal and Jabari Dunlap. She has a wide circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

    To the Dodds and Henton families it was with profound sorrow hear that my classmate had passed away. Keep your mind stayed on God and He will see you through this. He just picked another flower from his garden to help make heaven just a little beautiful and friendly. He will not leave He will be there when ever you just think His name.
