Peniston C. Arnold, affectionately known as "Penny" or
"Big Money Grip," passed away on December 29, 2024,
in his beloved hometown of Newnan, Georgia. He was
born on August 18, 1952, in Newnan, where he spent
most of his life and developed deep roots in the
community.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Penny held
various occupations throughout his colorful life, but he
cherished his role as the supervising custodian at
Thomas Crossroads Elementary School in Sharpsburg,
Georgia. He was known for his generous spirit, always
eager to lend a helping hand, whether solicited or not.
His passion for charity work exemplified his
commitment to giving back to others.
Penny was a vibrant personality who loved to entertain
those around him with his engaging storytelling and
infectious laughter. His favorite pastimes included
watching sports, winning at gambling, riding his zero-
turn lawnmower, and playfully fussing over spending
money on his cherished Baby Sweet. He was also
known for his competitive nature, daring anyone to
challenge him in a game of free-throw shooting or
billiards.
He will be deeply missed by his pride and joy, daughter
Amber P. Arnold, and sons Victor Yi, Eric Hunter, Taime
Jamison, and Ken Arnold. Penny is also survived by his
special significant other, Ms. Beverly Dunnon, as well as
beloved grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and dear friend Willene Arnold. He is preceded
in death by his sons Micki Arnold and Michael, his loving
mother Myrtice C. Arnold, father Rufus Arnold, siblings
Mary Helen Cook, Ronald Arnold, Sherrie Scandrick,
Myrtice Arnold, and special nephew Kerry Arnold.
Penny was a faithful member of Powell Chapel Church,
embodying a spirit of warmth and friendship. He had a
unique ability to draw people in, never meeting a
stranger and leaving a lasting impression on everyone
he encountered. His legacy of kindness, humor, and
love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who
knew him.
Sewell Mortuary is honored to be entrusted with providing end-of-life services to the family of Peniston C. Arnold.
