Obituary For Nellie Mitchell
With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Nellie Mitchell on Friday, March 19th, 2021.
Visitation will be 3/29/21 from 5-7 PM.
Graveside service will be 3/30/21 at 1:00 PM at St Paul Holiness Church in Alvaton Ga.
A Time to be Born: Our beloved First Lady Missionary Nellie Mae Mitchell, was the second child born to the late John A. and Lillie Bell Pope on January 9, 1954. She attended Woodbury High School where she graduated in 1972.
A Time for Salvation: First Lady Missionary Nellie Mitchell accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age and joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Gay, GA. Years later, she converted to St. Paul Holiness Church where she obtain her role as First Lady. She was a dedicated and active member ministering to various task. She also held multiple position in the church such as youth choir director, youth Sunday school teacher and board of trustee. She was a overseer of the Easter, Christmas and Sunday School Convention Program. She counseled married couples alongside her husband Pastor Mack Arthur Mitchell. In addition, she was a keynote speaker at the Women Conference.
A Time to Love: First Lady Missionary Nellie Mitchell was United in Holy Matrimony on July 24, 1974 to Pastor Mack Arthur Mitchell and to this union, four children were born. They were married for forty-six years, she was a faithful and devoted wife. First Lady Missionary Nellie Mitchell was preceded in death by a daughter Chiquita Mitchell and brother Johnny A. Pope.
A Time to Labor: First Lady Missionary Nellie Mitchell was known in the community for her handmade quilts and blankets. She had a passion for sewing, cooking and baking. She was often praised for her Sweet Potato Pie. She also worked at Walmart and TDK for a number of years. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.
A Time to Remember: First Lady Missionary Nellie Mitchell departed this journey. She left her earthly home on March 19, 2021
