Obituary For Mrs. Willie Lee Horton

Willie Lee Horton was the daughter of the late Jim and Pearl Pitts. She was born August 29, 1924 in Waverly Hall, Georgia. After an extended period of illness, she departed this life on March 18, 2015 and entered eternal rest.

She was married to the late Arthur J. Horton, Sr. (Coot) and to this union six children were born. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Robert L. Horton (Bub) and Arthur J. Horton, Jr. (Boot).

She joined the Powell Baptist Church early in life and she was a faithful member until her health began to fail her.

She leaves loving and cherished memories with four daughters; Minnie P. Hall (James), Betty J. Cuff (Willie Joe), Stephanie L. Marshall (Bernard), Wyvonnia D. Horton (her devoted caregiver); thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; one sister, Martha Miller (Miami, Florida); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She will be remembered as a quiet and gentle spirited woman. She was never too busy to listen, lend a helping hand, give an encouraging word, or share loving advise. She lived her life in love and tried to find time for others. She loved her family and she loved the Lord. Her faith in God made her a strong foundation for her family. Her presence will be missed but cherished memories and the legacy of her life will keep her near and dear always.

Your mother was an angel and we all know Angels belong in Heaven. Like an angel, her presence brought peace and her smile brighten up everyone's day. Stephanie and Wyvonnia, the two of you made your mother feel cared for and loved unconditionally. Allow our Heavenly Father to wash away your tears with peace, comfort, and wonderful lasting memories you all can always cherished of your mother. Her destiny is where we all desire to be - in the Presence of God.. Love The Wilson Family Reggie,Tammy and Artavia

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of time spent together, until you meet again (John 11:25).

May God give you strength for the days ahead. The love and care that was poured out to Ms. Willie by her lovely daughters was beautiful to see. My heart goes out to each of you, especially Wyvonnia. It was a pleasure to work with your family and to see what you did for her. It speaks of the great woman that she was. The Bible days that a great woman will have her children rise up and call her blessed. She was indeed blessed. Visiting your home, I was always met with love. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of her care. We praise The Lord that she is resting in Jesus and we shall see her again! Please call on me if you need anything. Love Sandy Hill, Social Worker
