Obituary For Melvin Thrash

With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Melvin Thrash on December 27th, 2021.

Graveside service will be held January 4th, 2022 at 2 PM at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church on Jarrell Rd in Greenville Ga.

Visitation will be on January 3rd from 4 to 6 PM at Sewell Mortuary.

Melvin Thrash was born to the late Charlie Thrash Sr. and Leila Edwards Thrash on July 28. 1941 in Greenville, Georgia.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Byron.

He received his education in the Meriwether County School System. Melvin was employed with Lanny Logging Company where he retired.

He united in Holy matrimony to the late Ella Mae Thrash. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years.

He leaves to honor his memory two loving daughters, Jackie Derring (Ernest) of Greenville, GA, Maxine Hall (Randy) of LaGrange, GA; a special friend Ms. Catherine Towns of Luthersville, GA; eight grandchildren Patrick Derring of Luthersville, GA, Tracey Derring (Eric Ford) of Greenville, GA, Sandra Simon (Cedric) of Luthersville, GA, Ernest Derring Jr., Christopher (Chiquita) Williams of Summersville, SC, Tamika (Patrick) Neely of Memphis, TN, Mondez Hall (Andrea) of LaGrange, GA and Desmond Hall of LaGrange, GA; twenty two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three sisters, Rebecca Head (Tony) of Griffin, GA, Ellen Brown and Nellie McGruder of Greenville, GA; mother-in-law, Georgia Lee Snelling; four sister-in-laws and three brother- in-laws all of Greenville, GA; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends
