Obituary For Melvin Andrews

Melvin Andrews was born on January 3, 1946, in Meriwether County, Gay, Georgia, to the late W.T. Andrews and the late Bessie Andrews.

Melvin entered into eternal peace on August 13, 2015, peacefully at home, surrounded by a loving family, when his Master stepped in and said, "Come home my child, I need you to rest, it is now my time to give you your heavenly crown."

Melvin received Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Venus Baptist Church of Gay, Ga. He worked for years and retired from Clayton County Public works.

Even though Melvin was a man of very few words, he enjoyed being around family. Melvin's children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He was a very kind and had a gentle soul. He had a loving and generous hear t , and always giving to others. He was not a fan of confusion or chaos and always strived to keep peace. The legacy of Melvin kind spirit, passion for people, and zest for life will live through others.

Melvin Andrews was preceded in death by his father, W.T. Andrews; mother Bessie Mae Andrews, two bothers, Robert Hood and Willie T. Andrews, two sisters, Margie Adams and Gussie Britt.

Left to cherish his memory are a loving and devoted wife of 18 years, Hazel Vanessa Andrews; one biological son, Ira Trevor Almond, and 10 kids that he loved as his own: four sons, Michael Parham, Calvin Parham, Christopher Mincey and Andredo Parham; six daughters, Christina Parham, Arquetta Parham, Ashley Jones, Lisa Kelley, Keesha Hooks and Kassie Hooks. Melvin is survived by seven siblings: one brother, Willie Frank (Nereus) Andrews, East Point and six sisters, Ruby Davis, Newnan, Addie (Willie) Harris, Atlanta, Sally Kate (Jewell) Glenn, Atlanta, Ernestine (Rev. Joe) Geter, Newnan, Williene (Willie) Adams, Fayetteville, and Dorothy (Alton) James, Grantville. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, loving-in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and a host of long time friends.

Interment: Mt Venus Baptist Church Cemetery.
