Obituary For Jack Parks
K. K. Sewell Funeral Home in Manchester respectfully announces the passing of Jack Parks on December 30th, 2021.
Graveside service will be Monday, January 10th, 2022 at 11 AM at Leverette Hill Baptist in Warm Springs Georgia.
Visitation is from 1 to 3 PM at K K Sewell Funeral Home on Sunday, January 9th, 2022.
Sergeant Jack Amos Parks, Jr was born on January 19, 1949, in Greenville, Georgia to Jack Parks, Sr., and Elsie Griggs Parks. Jack joined Leverette Hill Baptist Church as a youth. After graduating from Meriwether County Training School (MCT) in Manchester, GA, Jack decided to join the United States Air Force. Jack would go on to serve in duty during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic service during combat.
After being honorably discharged following his service in the Vietnam War, Jack worked for Southern Railway in Georgia, Diamond Shamrock Corp. in Delaware, and subsequently retired from Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia. Following his retirement, he also engaged in various entrepreneurial endeavors.
Jack was a proud Father and Grandfather. Driven by his love of sports, he played in a community baseball league and coached Little League Baseball. Jack also had a passion for hunting, fishing, and working with his hands, but above all, he was an avid gardener. Whenever possible he kept a garden stocked with a variety of vegetables planted with care. Jack enjoyed socializing as a member of the Improved Benevolent & Protective Order Elks of the World, John A. Watts Lodge #224 in Chester, PA. Jack truly lived life to the fullest.
Jack was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ector and Annie Bell Parks, and his maternal grandparents, Mary and Bennie Griggs, his parents, Jack Parks, Sr., and Elsie Griggs Parks and his sister, Gloria Dean Parks. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Desrael Parks (Alicia), Xavier Parks (Tukesha), Jacquelynn Parks, Keizia Parks, Tiana Russell, and Melissa Bellanfante (Charles); his siblings Jackie Jackson, Lander Parks, Robert Caldwell, Marilynn Parks, Dianne Parks, Elaine Willis (Gregory, Sr.), Carolyn Harris (James) and Alton J. Parks (Eleanor); his grandchildren Dreon Parks, Jaylen Ware, Reyyanah Johnson, Sumayyah Johnson, Muadh Johnson, Khalooud Johnson, Nalah Bellanfante and Langston Bellanfante; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will sorrowfully mourn his passing.
