Passing is not a tragedy for those who have faith, for they are passing from a world filled with struggles and disappointments to one which is finer and better. Those who sorrow for them do so needlessly for them it is joy. In a twinkling of an eye, they passed through the veil called "death," into a life which is everlasting. "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever," These were the beliefs that guided the life of Elder Perry

My dad always had a smile on his face and praise in his words. When he walked he moved with purpose as if he were marching. When I was young my uncle used to spend hours writing his sermon, so I asked my dad "why don't you write your sermons before you preach?" My dad replied "the lord will give me the message he needs delivered when it's time". Many years later I remember visiting him in California before I entered the Army. He was preaching one night while there. As a young man about to ship away in the military, my heart was full of questions. God spoke to him, because from the pulpit he looked right at my smiled and his sermon answered all my questions and uncertainty. Dad was gifted. I also remember going to funerals and my dad would preach. He would turn the church into a place of rejoice and happiness. You wouldn't want anyone to be sad for you, as I can hear you say "son, I've moved on to be with the lord". You'd want us to rejoice, but dad I miss you. No more prayers when life is hard. No more words of wisdom during tough decisions. However, there no more pain for you. I love you Dad. - Kevin L. Perry
