Obituary For Charlie Mae Rosser Scales
With humble respect, Sewell Mortuary in Grantville announces the transition of Charlie Mae Rosser-Scales on September 10th, 2022.
Memorial Service will be September 16th, at 11 AM at Sewell Mortuary Chapel.
Charlie Mae Rosser Scales was born to the late William Henry and Ellen Frances Rosser on March 31, 1942 in Newnan, Georgia. Charlie Mae was the fourth child of eleven siblings, five of whom preceded her in death; Marvin Rosser, Carolyn Parker, Annette Alexander, Leon Rosser and Marsha Ramsey.
Charlie Mae attended Grantville Brown Elementary and Central High School in Newnan, Georgia, where she enjoyed displaying her renowned dance talents as Lead Majorette. She was known for leading the band procession along the streets of Newnan while delivering unforgettable performances. Before graduating, Charlie Mae met and married Grady Jennings of Hogansville, Georgia. To this union one daughter was born, Carmen. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. in 1965 and met and married John A. Scales. Her passion for growing flowers and obsession with beautiful worldly landscapes, led her to landing a job with National Geographic, and later accepted a position working for the federal government as a computer technician.
After retiring, she relocated back to Georgia, where she enjoyed cooking for family and friends, sewing and making crafts, listening and dancing to music, and just enjoying life to its entirety. We will truly miss her captivating smile and humorous sarcasm to everyone that knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Dr. Carmen Williams, her 3 grandchildren: Chauncey, Reginald, and Christina; sister Bobbie Jean Heflin; brothers: William L. Rosser (Rosetta), Daniel C. Rosser (Katherine), Joe N. Rosser (Sylvia) and Victor B. Rosser; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
