Sewell Mortuary respectfully announces the passing of Arthur Johnson on 11/6/2016.

Funeral Service is Saturday November 12th at 12:00PM at New Hope Baptist Church on Corinth Road.

Visitation will be Friday from 11 to 6PM at Sewell Mortuary.

Mr. Arthur L. Johnson 86; born February 7, 1930 to the late Mr. James and Ethel Johnson. He departed this life November 6, 2016. At an early age he gave his life to Christ at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

He was married to Mrs. Ruby Philpot who preceded him in death. To this union ten children were born. Three preceded him in death; Rosa, Jimmy and Joann; also his only sister, Juanita Johnson Mitchell preceded him in death.

Mr. Arthur was a great farmer, steel worker and at one time owned his logging company.

He once lived in Dayton, Ohio and later moved home to Newnan in 1974. He mostly was a stay at home person and kept to himself.

He leaves to cherish his memories; a devoted niece and caregiver, Mrs. Juanita T. Mitchell; children, Mr. Bobby (Shirley) Johnson, Mr. Charlie Johnson, Mr. Arthur Johnson, Mr. Lonnie Johnson, Mr. Al (Jeanette) Cooper, Ms. Denise Johnson; grandchildren, Mr. James (Aleshia) Stargell, Mr. Kenneth (Angela) Stargell, Mrs. Danita Nelson and Mrs. Taiwana Fuller; 1st Cousins; a host of nephews and nieces; Mrs. Jimmie Lou Echols; fourteen great grandchildren.
